The medical examiner's report explains it in technical terms: an ancient oath was reactivated or broken, creating a feedback loop that overloaded Kael's magical abilities and systems. The energy bounced between the oath's binding and the host, code fighting with magic, fighting with hardware, cycling until it became fatal. It's a rare cause of death, one that requires specific knowledge, specific access, and specific intent.

This narrows things considerably. Not just anyone could have done this. You need knowledge of ancient oaths. You need access to binding magic. You need to know how to install augmentations. You need to understand how to trigger a cascade.

Around the room, eyes shift. Calculations are being made. Suspicions are forming. Some people look at those with Fae heritage. Others look at those with technical knowledge. Still others look at those who had access.

The investigation has just become much more specific.
